How Did the Cow Patty Hare Scramble Go

The event was a great success. The over 100 entries was the largest yet. If we could get just a few more it would help with the new higher costs of putting on a good event.AMA sanctions, insurance, arrows, wood stakes, ribbon, banners, spot-a-pots, entry forms, ambulance and bigger trophies are some of the things that have gone up.

The event could not have happened without the help of Ray K. & Denny K. checking over 350 people through the front gate. Gail S., Judy S., Lisa N., Jessica A., and Frank A. signing in all our riders. Our D-7 club rep. Ed Phelps did a great job of signing up new AMA & D-7 riders. Ken S. with his pistol sending everyone off and Wayne R. with a firm grip on the helmets to scan each rider, kept everything under control. Mark R. managed all the course Marshalls who kept the riders from cutting the course, getting lost and helping the stuck, injured, or the broken down. We had better than one Marshall for every 10 riders, thanks. Thanks to George C. and Paul A. for taking on the responsibility of setting up the youth course. Jeff Fisher and Steve L. took on the difficult job of hand scoring the youth. Thanks to Judy S. and Frank A. for getting the scoring posted as fast as the computer would let them. Thanks to all the girls, Gail S., Denise H. Jessica A., and Sydney & Jacqi N. who got the trophies in order and handed out.

Our new member Bruce Beddow came up on Easter and helped with the grass course. George C. also came up on Easter to put in some new trail including a big new downhill to improve the course. The grass track would not have been possible without Dale K. & Josh coming up on Thursday to get started with driving stakes and hanging ribbon, with help from Pat & Josh on Friday. A good turnout was due to the long hours put in at home by Pat Abrams and Steve Linsenmeyer, getting the event information out by computer and ground mail. This was no small job. Thanks to Pat, the event scores were posted on our web site the next day. A special thanks to Gene Lugat for having his company PrimeLending sponsor our direct mailer, along with Steve’s company Corporate Mailing Services, Inc.,to over 1500 riders.

Thanks to all the riders that complimented us on the course layout. We need to know what you like so we can give it to you. Right now the 10 mile course leans to a good C rider course.??

It was a big help to have the D-7 rep Ken Doane, and D-5 rep Ron Stetz at the event. Their full support prior to the event also helped the attendance.

The Mountain Top group of Right for Life American Cancer Association’s bake sale was a big success. We all enjoyed the homemade pies, pastries & lunch they provided. They are talking about having sausage gravy for breakfast at our October event.

The $1800 worth of Moose Apparel raffled off was a big success and a portion of the proceeds donated to the Right for Life Charity.

We felt very privileged to have Joe Winkler marshalling for us. So far this year he received 1st place at 2 East Coast Enduros this year, getting overall C at one.
