WHO WE ARE

The Maryland Competition Riders are a group of motorcycle enthusiasts dedicated to promoting and preserving the sport of motorcycle riding and racing. Our club membership includes some of the District 7 members as well as AMA members. We are an American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) chartered club that promotes events through District 7. Every year the officers and members plan different events to carry us through the riding season including club get-togethers, riding events, play days, work days and our annual parties. The largest effort we undertake every year is putting on the "Hangover" and "Cow Patty" hare scrambles. In recent years this has become a two day event that includes Quads on Saturdays and Bikes on Sunday. Our hare scrambles are good for District 7 points Gold Series.

With the variety of competitions, dual sports, fun rides, and diversity of riding areas, there are events for riders of every age and skill level. Many of our members are active competition riders and compete in enduros, hare scrambles and motocross. Others prefer to just ride for fun: dual sports, club rides, poker runs, road riding and weekend ventures.

We realize that the future of off-road riding is dependent upon the participation and support of future generations. Our youth events are a way to engage up-and-coming riders, teach them about their responsibility to conserve the sport of off road riding and racing. Our members believe in riding in a safe and responsible manner so that we can protect ourselves and our riding opportunities. We stress that our bikes be properly equipped and maintained as well as ridden in an appropriate manner.

Maryland Competition Riders is a club run by its members for its members, and as such, the club activities are constantly being adjusted to match our own needs. The routine business of the club is conducted by the elected officers, with the concurrence of the members.

Maryland Competition Riders meet for one to two hours on the third Thursday of each month. These meetings include both club business and a program of general interest - as well as a chance to just hang out with fellow enthusiasts. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. As an Maryland Competition Rider member, you'll meet people with similar interests, enjoy various trail rides and events, and have fun! Like any group, the more you participate the more fun you can have.
